Historic Fortifications

Pula served as the primary naval base for the Austro-Hungarian Empire, resulting in a sophisticated defensive system of over 20 forts and numerous batteries. This collection highlights the diverse military architecture of the 19th and early 20th centuries, from the 17th-century Venetian Kaštel to the massive circular forts like Bourguignon and Marie Louise.
