Takayama's Unmissable Heritage

Takayama features a well-preserved Edo-period merchant district known as Sanmachi Suji, characterized by dark wood architecture and sake breweries. The city is home to the Takayama Jin’ya, the only surviving provincial government office of the Tokugawa shogunate.
