Historic Fortifications and Monuments

This collection features significant archaeological remains and defensive structures across the Olympia region. It includes the triangular pedestal of the Nike of Paionios from the 5th century BC and the ancient Acropolis of Skillous, alongside medieval fortifications like the castles of Smerna, Paliakoumpa, and Roupeli. Base of Nike of Paionios

Triangular marble pedestal located within the Sanctuary of Zeus, originally supporting the 5th-century BC statue of Nike. It was dedicated by the Messenians and Naupaktians following their victory over the Spartans.
