Province 1 Essentials

Province 1, now known as Koshi Province, contains the world's highest concentration of 8,000-meter peaks, including Mount Everest, Kangchenjunga, Lhotse, and Makalu. The region is defined by the Khumbu Valley's trekking infrastructure, anchored by the high-altitude Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla. Beyond the summits, the area hosts significant spiritual sites like the Halesi Mahadev cave complex and Chewong Gompa, alongside modern conservation initiatives like Sagarmatha Next that focus on Himalayan ecology.

These essential mountain lodges and teahouses are situated along the Khumbu, Mera Peak, and Singalila trekking circuits. Ranging from basic shelters at 2,600 meters to high-altitude luxury lodges at 4,250 meters, they provide critical staging points for acclimatization and navigation through Sagarmatha National Park and the Indo-Nepal border ridges. Each location offers strategic access to major peaks including Everest, Lhotse, and Kanchenjunga.
