Lednice Essentials

The Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape is a UNESCO World Heritage site centered around the neo-Gothic Lednice Château. This collection features a sprawling English-style park and formal French gardens, notable for a 19th-century cast-iron greenhouse and the 60-meter-tall Moorish Revival Minaret. The estate is dotted with romantic follies, including the artificial ruins of Janohrad Castle, the Empire-style Temple of Apollo overlooking local ponds, and several Classicist pavilions designed for the Liechtenstein family’s leisure and hunting activities.

Lednice Château

A romantic chateau placed in UNESCO protected area of beautiful parks.

Minaret

Built around the year 1800, the minaret now serves as an outlook tower and makes an excellent walk destination from Chateau Lednice.

A vast landscape combining a formal French garden with an English-style park, featuring rare tree species, winding water channels, and scenic vistas connecting the estate's architectural monuments.

Janohrad Castle

An early 19th-century romantic folly designed as an artificial Gothic ruin. Built by Joseph Hardtmuth, it served as a hunting lodge and gathering point for the nobility during hunts.

Greenhouse

This greenhouse was built in 1845, covered in tens of thousands tiny glass pieces carefully layered to build a magnificent structure.

Lovecký zámeček

A Classicist two-story pavilion built between 1805 and 1806. Designed by Joseph Hardtmuth, it originally served as a base for hunting parties and a residence for the princely foresters.

Rybniční zámeček

A Classicist chateau built between 1814 and 1816, situated on the banks of the Prostřední pond. It was designed by Joseph Kornhäusel for scientific research and social events.

Apollonův chrám

An Empire-style temple built in 1817–1819 on the shores of the Mlýnský pond. The facade features a prominent relief depicting the myth of Apollo, god of the sun and arts.

Hraniční zámeček

A Classicist building constructed in 1826–1827 directly on the historic border between Moravia and Lower Austria, once marked by a boundary stream flowing through the building's foundations.
