Religious Sites & Landmarks
Chania's religious architecture reflects a complex history under Byzantine, Venetian, and Ottoman rule. The city center features the 19th-century Greek Orthodox Cathedral and the 17th-century Yiali Tzami, the oldest Ottoman building on Crete. Nearby, the Etz Hayyim Synagogue preserves the heritage of the island's Romaniote Jewish community. B Metropole
19th-century Greek Orthodox Cathedral dedicated to the Presentation of the Virgin Mary. Built on the site of an earlier Venetian church, it features a three-aisled basilica design and a prominent bell tower.

Agia Triada Monastery
17th-century monastery built by the Venetian Tzagarolo brothers, showcasing Cretan Renaissance architecture with Doric and Corinthian elements. The complex includes a museum and continues to produce organic wine and olive oil.
Gouverneto monastery
16th-century fortress-like monastery featuring a Venetian-style facade with sculpted Renaissance decorations. Dedicated to the Lady of the Angels, it is one of the oldest active monasteries in Crete.
