Religious Sites & Landmarks
Chania's religious architecture reflects a complex history under Byzantine, Venetian, and Ottoman rule. B Metropole

Gouverneto monastery
16th-century fortress-like monastery featuring a Venetian-style facade with sculpted Renaissance decorations. Dedicated to the Lady of the Angels, it is one of the oldest active monasteries in Crete.
