Brezniche

Late spring to early autumn is the best time, when the paths into the hills are dry and the days are long. Winters are cold, with some snow and short days.

The biggest event nearby is the Zlín Film Festival for children and young people, held in Zlín every year in late May or early June. It fills the city with screenings and outdoor events, and it links well with a visit to the film studios near Březnice.

Church of St. Bartholomew is the village's main monument. It has a Gothic core, was first recorded in 1437, and was rebuilt in the 19th century. A large old linden tree grows on the village green nearby.

Film Knot Zlín is about 2 km north, inside the historic film studios in Zlín's Kudlov district. Its four floors cover the history of animation, and it runs hands-on workshops where children and adults make short animated films.

Kabinet filmové historie is in the same studio complex. It shows the history of film making at the studios, where Karel Zeman and Hermína Týrlová made their famous films.

On the Kříby hill above the village stands a stone memorial mound from 1955. It remembers the 19 men of Březnice killed by the Nazis in 1943 after local resistance hideouts were found. Nineteen birch trees stand around it, one for each victim.

• By air: There is no nearby airport with a good choice of flights. Vienna and Prague are the practical international gateways, both a few hours away by train or bus.
• By train: Main-line trains stop at Otrokovice. From there, a local line runs to Zlín.
• By bus: Long-distance buses link Zlín with Brno and other Moravian towns. Regional buses connect Zlín with Březnice; see IDZK regional transport for timetables.
• By car: Březnice is about 6 km south of the centre of Zlín.
