Đắk Lắk Essentials

Đắk Lắk centers on the Serepok River and the volcanic landscapes of the Central Highlands. This selection includes Lak Lake, Vietnam's second-largest natural freshwater lake, and the massive granite monoliths of Elephant Rock. Cultural sites range from the Khải Đoan Pagoda, featuring a blend of Hue royal and ethnic longhouse architecture, to Bản Đôn village, known for its history of elephant taming. The list also covers the region's geological features, specifically the basalt formations of Gia Long Waterfall and the multi-branched cascades of Thác 7 Nhánh.

A

Lak Lake

The largest natural freshwater lake in the province and second largest in Vietnam. It is a center for M'Nong ethnic culture, particularly in the surrounding villages of Jun and Le.

Chùa Khải Đoan

Established in 1951, this was the last pagoda in Vietnam to receive an imperial designation. The structure combines traditional Hue court architecture with the wooden stilt house style of the Ede people.

Du Lịch Bản Đôn

A historic village on the Serepok River known for its tradition of elephant hunting and taming. It features bamboo suspension bridges and century-old wooden houses reflecting M'Nong and Laotian architectural influences.

Thác Gia Long

A waterfall on the Serepok River named after King Gia Long. The site is notable for its rare columnar basalt rock formations, similar to those found at Gành Đá Đĩa.

Elefant Rock

Known locally as Da Voi Me, this is the largest monolithic granite rock in Vietnam. The formation is approximately 200 meters long and provides views over the surrounding agricultural valley.

Chợ Trung tâm TP Buôn Ma Thuột

The primary commercial hub for Buôn Ma Thuột, specializing in Central Highlands coffee, local agricultural products, and traditional brocade textiles from the Ede and M'Nong communities.

A section of the Serepok River where the current splits into seven distinct streams flowing across a 500-meter wide basalt ledge and through a network of large tree roots.
