Towering Views
This collection features prominent vertical structures throughout the Everglades and South Florida, ranging from architectural observation points to functional telecommunications masts. The list includes the 65-foot Shark Valley Lookout Tower, which offers 360-degree views of the sawgrass marsh, and the Pa-Hay-Okee boardwalk overlook. Complementing these are several high-altitude radio transmission towers, such as the WMRZ and WVCG masts, which serve as landmarks within the flat, expansive landscape of the Florida peninsula.
Pa-Hay-Okee Lookout Tower
At the end of this trail, you will get to the Pahayokee Overlook which offers fantastic views of the park.
Shark Valley Lookout Tower
A 65-foot concrete observation tower designed by Hubert Frohman. Situated at the midpoint of the 15-mile Shark Valley Tram Road, it provides 360-degree views of the surrounding ridge-and-slough ecosystem.
Everglades City Tower
Historic observation tower located near the Everglades Airpark. The structure provides elevated views of the surrounding mangroves and the entry to the Ten Thousand Islands.
WMRZ-AM (South Miami)
AM radio transmission tower serving the South Miami area.
WVCG-AM (Coral Gables)
Broadcast tower used for AM radio transmission in the Coral Gables and greater Miami region.
WFKZ-FM (Plantation Key)
FM radio broadcast tower located on Plantation Key, serving the Florida Keys regional network.
