Historic Forts and Ruins

This collection highlights the diverse architectural heritage of the Jammu and Kashmir region, spanning from the 8th-century stone temples of Naranag and the ancient learning center of Sharada Peeth to Mughal-era fortifications like Baghsar Fort and Sarai Sadabad. Ramkot Fort

Ramkot Fort is an ancient fort situated in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan currently beside the Mangla Dam.

Sher Garhi Palace

Built in 1772 by Afghan governor Amir Khan Jawansher, this palace complex on the Jhelum River served as the administrative headquarters for the Afghan and Dogra rulers of Kashmir.

Bahu Fort

This historic fort in Jammu city features massive stone walls and houses a temple dedicated to the goddess Kali. It is surrounded by the terraced Bagh-e-Bahu gardens.

Sharada Peeth, Azad Kashmir

Ruins of an ancient Hindu temple and university in the Neelum Valley. Between the 6th and 12th centuries, it was one of the most prominent centers of learning in the Indian subcontinent.

Baghsar Fort

A Mughal-era stone fort overlooking Baghsar Lake. It contains 38 rooms and was strategically placed along the historical route used by Mughal emperors to travel to the Kashmir Valley.

Ghanta Ghar

A historic clock tower located in the center of Anantnag, serving as a prominent local landmark and architectural monument.

Gole Chakkar

A historic roundabout and monument located in the city of Srinagar.

Naranag Temple

An 8th-century complex of stone temples dedicated to Shiva. Built by King Lalitaditya Muktapida, the site features impressive granite architecture and remains of ancient water tanks.

Pandav Lari

Ancient stone ruins near Bijbehara, traditionally associated with the Pandavas. The site contains archaeological fragments from the region's early history.

Ramkot Fort

A 16th-century fort situated on a hill overlooking the Mangla Dam. Accessible only by boat, the structure features architectural styles reflecting various ruling eras.

Karjai Na Qila

Stone ruins of an ancient hilltop fortification located in the Rajouri region.

Sarai Sadabad

A Mughal-era roadside inn situated in the Bhimber district. It was built to provide shelter for travelers and royalty along the historical Mughal Road.
