Best Beaches & Bays

Jersey’s coastline offers diverse geological features, from the five-mile Atlantic surf of St. Ouen’s Bay to the sheltered, south-facing sands of St. Brelade’s. The island experiences one of the highest tidal ranges in the world, which dramatically alters the landscape twice daily. This selection includes Victorian lido architecture at Havre des Pas, hidden sea caves at Plemont, and the tranquil fishing harbors of Rozel and Bonne Nuit along the rugged north coast.

Saint Ouen's Bay

Spans the west coast with five miles of sand. Known for Atlantic swells and surfing, the area also contains the Channel Islands Military Museum and several WWII-era bunkers.

St.Brelade's

South-facing bay featuring a promenade and the 10th-century Fisherman’s Chapel located at the western end. Known for its soft white sand and palm trees.

Grève de Lecq

A sheltered north coast bay with deep sand, flanked by high cliffs. It features a 19th-century Martello tower and historic military barracks nearby.

Plemont

North-western cove accessible via a long staircase. It is notable for its extensive sea caves and a freshwater waterfall visible on the beach at low tide.

Green Island Beach

South coast beach featuring a rocky islet accessible at low tide. The area is significant for a nearby Neolithic burial mound.

Portelet

A steep-sided bay containing Janvrin’s Tomb, a small defensive tower built on a tidal islet in the center of the cove.

Grouville

Wide east coast bay, also known as Long Beach. It is overlooked by the medieval Mont Orgueil Castle and the Royal Jersey Golf Club.

Havre des Pas

Features a Victorian-era outdoor bathing pool and a circular pier. It serves as a historic swimming spot located on the outskirts of St. Helier.

Ouaisné

Connected to St. Brelade's Bay at low tide. It features a coastal pine forest, a sea wall, and an 18th-century Conway tower.

La Rocque Beach

Rocky southeast harbor used for low-water fishing. It features a granite pier and a 19th-century defensive tower.

Bonne Nuit

A small fishing harbor on the north coast sheltered by steep hills. Features a stone pier and serves as a junction for coastal cliff paths.

Rozel

Northeast fishing port with a traditional pier and colorful cottages. The bay is known for its oyster beds and beachside food kiosks.

La Coupe

Remote pebbly beach on the northeast coast. It is marked by a 19th-century defensive tower and offers views across the sea to the French coast.

Baie de la Vinde

Secluded cove near Noirmont Point, accessible via cliff paths. It offers views of Elizabeth Castle and the Noirmont Commandery.

Beauport

South-facing cove surrounded by high cliffs and gorse. Accessible only by a steep path, it features turquoise waters and pink granite rock formations.
