Castles and ruins in Kufstein District

This selection across the Inn Valley features medieval fortifications and later aristocratic residences. It includes the massive Kufstein Fortress, known for its 16th-century Josefsburg wing, and the hilltop ruins of Rattenberg. Many sites, such as Thierberg and Kirnstein, offer insight into the region's defensive history from the 12th century onwards, while Schloss Itter and Schloss Urfahrn represent more modern architectural styles and private estates.
