Jūrmala Essentials

Jūrmala’s identity is defined by its 26-kilometer stretch of white-sand beaches and historic wooden architecture. This selection covers the cultural heart of the resort, from the "Inner Light" luminescent gallery to the Dubulti Art Station, housed in a functional railway terminal. Visitors can explore the legacy of Latvian poets Rainis and Aspazija at dedicated memorial sites, alongside iconic bronze sculptures like the Majori Turtle and the Lāčplesis monument, which mark the transition from the seaside to the town's garden parks.

Globe

Large, rotating copper globe sculpture located at the intersection of Jomas and Turaidas streets. It serves as a traditional meeting point in the Majori district.

Majoru pludmale

Wide, white-sand Blue Flag beach featuring volleyball courts and the central hub of Jūrmala's seaside activities.

Horna dārzs

Historic park established in 1870. It features an outdoor stage for concerts and a monument to Latvian poets Rainis and Aspazija.

Turtle

Bronze sculpture by Jānis Bārda, installed in 1995. It is a landmark located at the end of Tirgoņu Street overlooking the beach.

Lāčplesis

Sculpture depicting the Latvian epic hero Lāčplesis slaying a dragon, located near the Majori railway station.

Aspazijas māja

Restored two-story wooden summer house where Latvian poet Aspazija lived from 1933 to 1943. It features original interiors and interactive exhibits.

Inner Light Art Gallery

Gallery showcasing Vitaliy Ermolaev’s "fluorescent" paintings, which reveal hidden details and colors when lighting shifts from day to night effects.

Mākslas stacija "Dubulti"

Contemporary art space integrated into a functioning railway station. The 1977 building is a notable example of Soviet modernist architecture.

Raiņa priedes

Coastal spot featuring the remaining pine trees where poet Rainis found inspiration. A memorial sculpture is located here near the dunes.
