Milford Sound Essentials

Milford Sound, located within Fiordland National Park, is a glacially carved fiord characterized by vertical cliffs rising over 1,200 meters from the sea. This selection highlights geological landmarks such as the 1,692-meter Mitre Peak and the permanent Stirling and Bowen Falls. The area includes the Piopiotahi Marine Reserve, home to New Zealand fur seals and rare black coral, accessible via the Milford Discovery Centre’s underwater observatory.
