Mtskheta's Essential Heritage

Mtskheta, the former capital of the Kingdom of Iberia, serves as the spiritual heart of Georgia and a UNESCO World Heritage site. This collection features the 6th-century Jvari Monastery situated at the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers and the 11th-century Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, which houses the robe of Christ. The list also includes the Samtavro monastery complex, the medieval cave-dwelling community of Shiomghvime, and the ancient defensive ruins of Armazi Fortress.
