Alpine Huts and Shelters
This collection features essential mountain shelters and alpine huts across the Dachstein plateau and surrounding peaks near Obertraun. These sites, ranging from the expansive 3,000-hectare Gjaidalm pasture to the high-altitude Sarsteinhütte on Hoher Sarstein, provide necessary rest stops for hikers. Many are concentrated around the Krippenstein cable car stations, offering access to the karst landscape, while others serve as remote basepoints for multi-day treks toward the Dachstein glacier.
Gjaidalm
A 3,000-hectare alpine pasture situated at 1,738 meters near the third section of the Dachstein Krippenstein cable car. It serves as a central hub for hiking trails across the karst plateau.
Hanzinger Hütte
Alpine hut located on the Krippenstein plateau, providing services for hikers and skiers near the mountain's trail network.
Lodge
High-altitude accommodation situated at 2,063 meters, located directly at the mountain station of the Dachstein Krippenstein cable car.
Olympiahütte
Historical mountain hut on the Krippenstein, originally established to support the development of winter sports infrastructure in the region.
Sarsteinhütte
Located at 1,650 meters on the Hoher Sarstein, this hut offers views of the Hallstätter See and the Dachstein Massif. It is a primary rest point on the ascent to the Sarstein summit.
