From the historic Cabana Babele at 2,206 meters to the remote mountain rescue shelters near Lake Bucura, these sites serve as critical hubs for multi-day trekking. A Cabana Babele
Located on the Bucegi Plateau at 2,206 meters, this central hub sits near the Babele and Sphinx rock formations. It serves as a primary junction for trails leading to Omu Peak and is accessible via the Bușteni cable car.
B Cabana Mălăiești
Situated in the Mălăiești glacial valley of the Bucegi Mountains at 1,720 meters. This historic hut is a key stop for routes ascending the northern slopes toward the Scara Ridge and Omu Peak.
C Cabana Piatra Arsă
Located on the Piatra Arsă plateau at 1,950 meters between Sinaia and Babele. It features a high-altitude sports training complex and is accessible by car via the Transbucegi road.
D Crăiță
Basic mountain hut located in the Piatra Craiului area.
E Refugiul din Morar
High-altitude shelter located in the Morar Valley of the Bucegi Mountains.
Cabana Pietrele
A historic base in the Retezat National Park at 1,480 meters. It serves as the main starting point for trails to Lake Bucura, Peleaga Peak, and the northern glacial circles.
Refugiul Salvamont Bucura
A mountain rescue station and shelter located on the shores of Lake Bucura, the largest glacial lake in Romania, at an elevation of 2,040 meters in the Retezat Mountains.
Cabana Gențiana
Located at 1,670 meters in the Pietrele Valley of Retezat National Park. This hut provides a mid-way point for hikers ascending from Cabana Pietrele toward the central Retezat ridges.
Cabana Parâng
Situated at 1,585 meters in the Parâng Mountains near the town of Petroșani. It provides access to the main ridge trails and the chairlift system.
Refugiul Salvamont Poiana Pelegii
