The Tróia Peninsula is a 25-kilometer sandspit located between the Atlantic Ocean and the Sado Estuary. It features the largest Roman fish-salting complex known in the world, dating from the 1st to the 6th century. The area includes a championship golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones Senior, a 184-berth marina, and expansive white-sand beaches. Visitors can explore the dunes, visit the historic rice mill in Comporta, or observe the resident bottlenose dolphin colony in the estuary.
