Geological wonders in Valley of Fire State Park

Fire Wave

Striped Aztec Sandstone formation featuring undulating patterns of red, pink, and white. It is accessible via a 1.5-mile round-trip hike from Parking Lot 3.

Pink Canyon

A narrow wash featuring soft pastel pink sandstone walls. Located along the Seven Wonders Trail, this natural drainage showcases distinct color variations caused by mineral oxidation.

Elephant Rock

A natural sandstone arch shaped through wind and water erosion to resemble an elephant. Located near the park's East Entrance, the formation is accessible via a short 0.3-mile loop trail.

Kaolin Slot Canyon

A narrow passage through white and multicolored sandstone layers, forming part of the White Domes trail. The canyon features smooth, water-carved walls characteristic of the park's slot formations.
