This large museum features one of the most wholesome collections of artefacts and artworks devoted to the history of Roman civilisation. It was first opened in 1955 and today spans over more than 12 000 square meters.
The items on display here are divided into 59 sections, based on history and theme. The highlights of the collection include a model of the imperial Rome, the tombstone of apostle Paul, and the statue of Julius Caesar.
As of 2017, the museum is temporarily closed due to renovation works. For more information, visit the official website.
