This majestic historical building, which today serves as a home to the German parliament, is a must see for any history buff. You may remember it from the famous photo Raising a flag over the Reichstag, which, in modern terms, went viral by the end of the World War II. There is also a roofed terrace on the top of the building complete with a garden, a restaurant, and a glass dome, which the visitors can climb to get spectacular 360° views of Berlin's skyline. If you want to learn more about the building, audioguides are available on the roofed terrace.
The Reichstag has a long and eventful history. Built in 1894 to house the parliament of the country, it only remained in use until 1933, when it got severely damaged by fire. Since then, it had been left unused for political reasons until its restoration in 1999.
Today, tourists can take a look at the graffiti on its walls, made by the Soviets at the end of the Second World War, or take a picture with a copy of the photograph that made it famous.
There might be some additional closures due to maintenance, please check the official website for more information.
