Its religious history is preserved in the ancient Armenian Saint Thaddeus Monastery and the Assyrian Naneh Maryam Church. Natural landmarks include the three-tiered Shalmash Falls, the Sahulan water cave, and the Urmia Lake Bridge. The province also houses the tomb of the mystic Shams-e Tabrizi in Khoy.
