Church of Santissimo Redentore

Built as an expression of gratitude after the city survived a horrible plague in the 16th century, this splendorous church made of white marble is a venue for the annual Festa del Redentore, which is a festival commemorating this event in history. The locals and visitors feast in beautifully decorated boats while watching an extensive fireworks show, lasting for about an hour. The celebrations last until dawn. Coming here during that time is an experience you will not forget easily.

The facade was designed by Andrea Palladio, who got inspired by the Pantheon of Rome. You have to climb 15 steps to get to the church's entrance, which is a reference to the Temple of Jerusalem. The building's measurements are subjected to strict geometrical rules, just like any other Palladio's work.

There is a number of impressive works of art inside the church, including "The Virgin presenting Jesus to the Blessed Felix" by Pietro Vecchia, and art pieces by Veronese artists like Jacopo Palma il Giovane, Jacopo Bassano, and Francesco Bissolo and others.
