The Art Deco palace was built on the same spot where a similar palace already stood before that. Both palaces were constructed for the same occasion - the World's Fair (which is sometimes also called the EXPO). The original palace was built for the World's Fair 1878 while the present-day one was built for the EXPO 1937.
Also, it was here where the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was signed in 1948. Now, the palace houses various different institutions - an aquarium, a theater and several museums.
The palace is located close to the Eiffel Tower and it is one of the best places from where to take photos of the iconic Paris sight.
