The Best Of Florence In A Day

Explore the medieval city center of Florence, visit the Uffizi Gallery and finish your day with a walk to the Piazzale Michelangelo, a popular lookout dedicated to the Renaissance sculptor Michelangelo Buonarroti.

Your trip starts at the Cathedral Complex of Piazza del Duomo. Visit the Cathedral boasting a huge iconic dome, admire the Giotto's Bell Tower and see the Baptistery of St. John. Head to the Vecchio Palace and walk around the square - Piazza della Signoria boasts the Fountain of Neptune, a replica of Michelangelo's David and the equestrian statue commemorating Cosimo I.

While here, don't forget to explore Loggia dei Lanzi, an open-air gallery displaying spectacular sculptures. Next, admire the huge collection of valuable artworks in the Uffizi Gallery. Originally built as an administrative building, it is now probably the most significant Italian museum.

After leaving the gallery, continue to the Vecchio Bridge. Crossing the Arno River, it is lined with jewelers and souvenir stalls. Enjoy panoramic views of the river and walk up to Piazzale Michelangelo. Take the historic panoramic route from Porta San Miniato.
