Best of Munich is a walk through the historic centre, from the medieval Karlstor gate to the edge of the Englischer Garten. You will pass the Jesuit church of St Michael and the Gothic Church of Our Lady, stand beneath the Glockenspiel on Marienplatz, browse the stalls of Viktualienmarkt, step into the Hofbräuhaus, and cross the royal Residenz, Odeonsplatz and Hofgarten before the Haus der Kunst and the surfers on the Eisbach wave. The walk starts at Karlstor, beside Karlsplatz Stachus station, and ends at the Eisbach. Allow about two and a half hours at an easy pace.
