Coastal escapes in Redwood National and State Parks

This collection highlights the rugged intersection of Redwood National Park and the Pacific coastline. It includes high-altitude vantage points like Redwood Creek Overlook, which offers views of old-growth watersheds, and sea-level destinations such as Gold Bluffs Beach, known for its towering cliffs and resident Roosevelt elk. Klamath River Overlook

Situated 650 feet above the Pacific, this vantage point marks the confluence of the Klamath River and the ocean. It serves as a primary trailhead for the Coastal Trail and is a frequent site for gray whale spotting during migration seasons.

Crescent Beach Overlook

Located at the end of Enderts Beach Road, this wooden platform provides panoramic views of the Crescent City coastline and offshore sea stacks. Interpretive signs detail the local marine environment and geological history.

Redwood National Park, Redwood Creek Overlook

Positioned at 2,264 feet elevation, this site offers views across the Redwood Creek watershed toward the ocean. It is one of the few locations where visitors can see the canopy of an entire old-growth forest valley.

Gold Bluffs Beach

Stretching ten miles along the coast, this beach is characterized by 100-foot-high golden cliffs and frequent sightings of Roosevelt elk. It provides the primary access route to the Fern Canyon trail.

Hidden Beach

A secluded cove accessible via a one-mile hike from the Trees of Mystery or the Coastal Trail. The beach features large driftwood piles, tide pools, and views of the offshore sea stacks.

Wilson Creek Beach

Located at the northern end of False Klamath Cove, this beach is known for its extensive driftwood and accessible tide pools. It sits directly off Highway 101 and marks a transition point between rocky cliffs and sandy shores.

High Bluff

A coastal vantage point offering views of traditional Yurok fishing grounds and offshore sea stacks. The area historically housed a secret World War II radar station disguised as a farmhouse and barn.

Crescent Beach

A wide, sandy expanse located just south of Crescent City. It is a primary location for beachcombing and surfing, with shallow waters protected by the nearby breakwater.
