Nature & Landscapes of Seogwipo

Seogwipo’s southern coast features unique geological formations shaped by volcanic activity. This selection includes Jeongbang Waterfall, one of the few in Asia to fall directly into the sea, and the 20-meter-tall lone rock pillar of Oedolgae. The list covers the natural rock pools of Seonnyeo-tang and the ecological restoration at Geolmae Eco Park, which preserves local marshland habitats and native flora along the Seogwipo-cheon stream.

Cheonjiyeon Waterfall

Cheonjiyeon Waterfall is a waterfall on Jeju Island, South Korea. Literally, the name Cheonjiyeon means sky connected with land.

Oedolgae

This 20-meter-tall basalt pillar stands isolated in the sea, formed by volcanic eruptions roughly 1.5 million years ago. Also known as "Lonely Rock," it is surrounded by coastal cliffs and offers views of nearby Munseom and Beomseom islands.

JeongBang Waterfall

One of the only waterfalls in Asia that falls directly into the ocean. The 23-meter-high falls are situated on a high cliff, featuring two distinct streams of water that drop into a coastal pool before flowing into the sea.

SoJeongBang Falls

A 5-meter-high waterfall located approximately 300 meters east of Jeongbang Waterfall. It is known for its accessibility, allowing visitors to stand near the cascading water, which flows through a rocky gully directly into the ocean.

선녀탕

Natural rock pools located at the base of the Hwangwooji Coast. These tide pools are formed by basalt rock formations that act as natural barriers against the waves, creating calm, clear basins frequently used for snorkeling.

Geolmaesaengtaegong-won

An ecological park built on reclaimed marshland where the Seogwipo-cheon stream meets the sea. It serves as a habitat for migratory birds and features walking trails through plum blossom trees, local flora, and protected wetlands.

Jalidundeog

A coastal cliff area near Oedolgae known for its jagged rock formations and panoramic views of the Seogwipo coastline. It is a key point along the Jeju Olle Trail Route 7, showcasing the island's volcanic topography.
