Seogwipo Essentials

Seogwipo’s southern coast is defined by its dramatic volcanic geography and deep cultural roots. This selection features Jeongbang Waterfall, one of the few in Asia to plunge directly into the ocean, and the 20-meter volcanic pillar of Oedolgae. Oedolgae

This 20-meter-tall basalt pillar stands isolated in the sea off the coast of Sammaebong. Formed by volcanic eruptions approximately 1.5 million years ago, it is also known as 'Grandmother Rock' due to local legends.

Cheonjiyeon Waterfall

Cheonjiyeon Waterfall is a waterfall on Jeju Island, South Korea. Literally, the name Cheonjiyeon means sky connected with land.

JeongBang Waterfall

Standing 23 meters high, this is one of the only waterfalls in Asia that falls directly into the ocean. It is situated on a high cliff overlooking the sea, surrounded by evergreen trees and black coastal rocks.

Seogwipomaeil-ollesijang

The largest traditional market in Seogwipo, featuring a retractable roof and specialized sections for Hallabong citrus, dried fish, and local street food. It serves as a central hub for Jeju’s agricultural and maritime products.

선녀탕

Natural rock pools located along the Hwang-u-ji coast. These turquoise basins are protected from the open sea by volcanic rock formations, making them a natural swimming and snorkeling spot during calm weather.

Lee Jung Seop Park

This cultural site includes the restored 1.4-square-meter room where the renowned Korean painter Lee Jung-seop lived during the Korean War. The surrounding park leads to a museum dedicated to his life and artwork.

SoJeongBang Falls

A 5-meter-high waterfall located approximately 300 meters east of Jeongbang Waterfall. Like its larger neighbor, the stream flows over a basalt cliff directly into the ocean.

Seobok Exhibition Hall

A museum commemorating Seobok, who was sent by China's First Emperor, Qin Shi Huang, to Jeju Island in search of an elixir of immortality. The site features traditional Chinese-style architecture.

Soemeolikoji(dongneobundeog)

A coastal viewpoint and rocky outcrop located near Oedolgae. It offers panoramic vistas of the Seogwipo cliffs and is a prominent spot for viewing the sunset over the sea.

Arang Joeul food street

A specialized dining district in Seogwipo city center. The street is lined with restaurants serving regional Jeju delicacies, including black pork, grilled hairtail fish, and traditional meat noodles.
