Vienna State Opera

Built between 1861 and 1869, this Renaissance Revival building was the first major structure on the Ring Road. Designed by architects August Sicard von Sicardsburg and Eduard van der Nüll, the venue officially opened on May 25, 1869. While the institution dates back to 1708, this specific structure remains one of the largest and most significant opera houses globally.

The venue hosts the Vienna State Ballet and the annual Vienna Opera Ball. It serves as a primary stage for opera and ballet, with an orchestra whose members are recruited from the Vienna Philharmonic.

With a seating capacity of 1,709, the building is recognized as a major cultural institution and a cultural heritage site. It is open to the public for world-class performances and is noted for its architectural significance.
