Stubai Alps Glaciers

The Stubai Alps contain some of the Eastern Alps' most significant ice fields, spanning the high-altitude border between Austria and Italy. This collection features prominent glacial systems like the 6.2-square-kilometer Übeltalferner, the range's largest glacier, alongside the Sulztalferner and Sulzenauferner. These glaciers are vital components of the regional ecosystem, feeding Alpine rivers and shaping the rugged topography of the Sulztal and Stubai valleys through centuries of glacial erosion.
