The building served originally as an asylum for the blind. After it closed in 1979, it was renovated and expanded. Nowadays there are hands-on exhibitions which will entertain both adults and children. It also includes a planetarium.
You can experience the environment of Amazon rainforest with more than a hundred living species such as birds, insects, frogs and even alligators. The Hall of Matter is devoted to evolution - the origin of matter, the first living organism, the conquest of "symbolic intelligence", and the birth of civilization. You can also see erosion, volcanism and other natural phenomena. One section of the museum allows its visitors to touch animals and plants from the Mediterranean.
The descriptions are available in Spanish and English. Also, there are audio-visual subtitles for persons with hearing impairment and informative brochure on the centre in Braille format. The museum is accessible to people with reduced mobility.
