The fountain situated right below the Palau Nacional was designed for the Barcelona International Exhibition in 1929. It was a very ambitious project and at that time, not many people believed in its success.
However, the fountain was completed and it worked as it was supposed to with colorful illumination and 2,600 liters of water going through this fountain per second. Since the 1980s, the show is accompanied by music, which is always different. It became a popular attraction especially with tourists, but also with children.
Come early to grab some seats before the show starts, you can have a drink or a snack while you wait. The show starts every half an hour, the start and end time differs according to the season.
